This vapid projection of self love

In the end, our struggles and scribbles
Are all met with celestial indifference
Our lines drawn in sands next to macrocosmic tides, they're soon extinguished

If only I weren't so conditioned
To tarnish all pleasure with doubt
If only I'd gain some perspective
Get out of my head just this once

But I've tried looking in from the outside
And somehow it all just gets worse
A tightrope of forced introspection
Is mine to traverse

Waiting
Holding on

When did I become different
I must've missed it in my sleep
All I know is the picture in the passport
Shows a face I can only just remember
